What age to start taekwondo

What age should kids start Taekwondo?

Many children are ready to try taekwondo around age 5. Age is only one part. The better test is whether the student can listen, follow a simple direction, and try again after a mistake.

What is the best age to start Taekwondo for kids?

The best age is when the child can stand in line, watch the instructor, and copy a kick without constant one-on-one rescue. At NWBBA that is typically age 5 and up. Starting later is fine. Starting earlier often means waiting.

Is 9 too late to start Taekwondo?

No. Nine-year-olds start taekwondo as beginners all the time. They often learn faster than younger kids because they can listen longer. Adult beginners start even later on adult taekwondo in Lynnwood.

What is better for kids, karate or Taekwondo?

The better art is the class the child will attend with a real instructor. NWBBA teaches taekwondo, not a karate curriculum. If you are comparing both, watch one kids class here and one karate class elsewhere, then pick the room your child will return to. See taekwondo vs karate.

Can a 5 year old start taekwondo in Lynnwood?

Yes, if they can follow a short class structure. Five is the usual floor at NWBBA, not a marketing age. Use the $29 two-week trial and stay for the first classes. Details for the kids program: kids martial arts Lynnwood.
